With the recent revelation of yet another extra-marital affair by the Rev. Jesse Jackson, are we seeing an attempt by the tabloid media to ‘get’ the good reverend, or is this a case of the chickens coming home to roost?

Similar instances of white preachers cheating on their spouses (e.g. Jim Bakker, Oral Roberts) were widely reported in the media. Are you suggesting Rev. Jackson (whom I admire greatly) get some kind of special treatment?

Of course there is some ‘Aha, gotcha’ by the media. It’s well known that anytime black leaders or celebs are seen in handcuffs on the evening news, it appears that their crimes are worse than if a white guy did the same thing. They always come up with some excuse for the white person, for instance, he’s insane, or they will flash his photo really fast so you will think this awful thing was committed by a black person. Whites crimes are always ‘alleged.’

I don’t see this as a racial thing. The ‘good’ reverend has committed sins – broken a commandment. As a reverend, he is a symbol of morality, but he has acted in a reckless and self-centered manner. People looked up to him for moral guidance, as well as for his efforts in strengthening civil rights. He was a leader – a mentor. But now we can see him for what he really is – not worthy of such high admiration. He put satisfying sexual desires above his marriage vows, above his wife, above family, above all the people who admired him, above everything. Race has nothing to do with that. He made his bed; now he can lie in it. He should know better than to expect money and fame to shelter him from media scrutiny – he gets what he deserves.

Shame on jesse jackson…The bible states we are to hold our spiritual leaders to a higher standard. The main media is giving Rev. Jackson a free ride on this one. If this had been a white religious leader the main media would have reported on it for days.

Having this position as a leader doesn’t make him any less human. The only perfect one is GOD himself and he is the only one to judge. Jesse Jackson’s position does not make him immortal and it’s really none of our business. He has to answer to GOD and his family and make it right with them. Basically it’s not our business because none of us are perfect no matter what ou position!. Not even the former president! And definitely not you, Little Miss Judgemental!!!!!!!!!!
