I hear time and again that Turkey is a secular country, but I then always wonder why it is that their national flag (as well as military uniforms) have the Islamic cresent and star symbol on them? Can anyone explain this? Liberals in the USA would have a coniption fit if a Christian symbol was on the American flag.
