I am cannot determine if a friend of mine is gay, bi, or just extremely shy. He has never mentioned having a relationship with a woman, although he is in his mid-30’s. A female friend of mine mentioned that gay men will sometimes date straight women to stay connected to the ‘straight’ world. I enjoy my my male friend’s companionship, and I am attracted to him. Would it be impolite to ask him out-right if he is gay?
