[Hillary]

I attend high school in a small town where there are only a few openly gay guys. Recently, a boy I know got in trouble for calling one of them a ‘faggot,’ and although I do think he was wrong, it made me wonder why these gay guys have female friends who use the same word affectionately, and no one seems to mind. Why is there a double standard for guys and girls regarding use of the word ‘faggot?’ Does anyone agree with me that it’s derogatory no matter what the context, and shouldn’t be used at all?
