I just recently finished a multicultural class in college and I took it cause it was a requirement. However, I came out of the class with a whole different view about life. I come from a family that is homophobic and although I have been a little wary of homosexuals in the past I believe it was because I was following what my parents have taught me which I can see now as a little close-minded. In my class we watched a video on homosexual adoption and what I saw there has totally changed my way of thinking. I don’t understand what makes us think that we are able to decide what is right and wrong as a whole. These adoption stories of gay and lesbian couples that adopted were nothing short of amazing to me. The fact that our society puts so much stress on children having a dad and a mom is ridiculous to me. I saw children that either had two dads or two moms and they were thriving in this enviroment… They were very much loved and they were very much normal children. Also I would like to add that just because the parents were gay or lesbian doesn’t mean that they are going to ‘rub off’ or teach their child to be that way also… I believe that everyone is born with their sexual preference already set. and I also see nothing wrong with homosexual adoption.
