What does the term ‘cake-eater’ mean when used in reference to private school or Catholics?

I was raised Roman Catholic and have never heard the specific term “cake-eater.” But as an adult with lots of non-Catholic friends, I have heard of “wafer-eater,” which I think refers to the same thing, the Host or sacred bread wafer used in Holy Communion.
