WGMemberWhy do many women, even when strongly complimented on an attribute, soon change that attribute, if they can? For example, if you tell a woman you like her hairstyle, she will no doubt have her hair different within the next few weeks. You would think a compliment would have the effect of a woman trying to maintain that certain look. But I do not observe this to be true, especially in younger women.

DawnMemberAs a hairstylist I would like to tell you a story that happened to me. About 2 years ago I had hair down to the middle of my back which had taken me years to grow but truth to be told I hated it. It was a general waste of time to me to want to ‘impress’ guys with my golden locks. So I went to the barbers and said give me a flat top babe, and off it went. To me at first it was different but everywhere I went people stopped me to comment on how they wished they were that brave to wear there hair like that, but most women commented I LOVE IT BUT MY HUSBAND WOULD KILL ME. So I wore it for a long time thinking it was cool, most of my clients had gone a lot shorter thinking it was great and a few even dared to go as short as I had. Well one day a friend of mine who really I guess cared said let me take your picture I want to show you something. And she did. To me the picture looked like the biggest butch dike I had ever seen I have not cut my hair since. So truth to be told a lot of people don’t have any taste or if they do they only tell you things to make themselves feel better so do what you want with your hair and screw everyone else.

Val24498MemberI can answer this as someone who just changed their hairstyle. People tend to feel especially with younger women i’ve noticed that they can say whatever they want about thier looks. I have had men come up to me and say, don’t eat that or you’ll look fat, or you look ugly with short hair, thus, this brings about two reasons i would change my hair after you complimented me. 1.I don’t put a lot of stalk into complements due to everyone gives me thier oppinion. 2. You might love my hairstyle, but my girls might think it’s time for a change. For me personally it’s the former.
