I’m sympathetic to you not wanting to create yet another painful thing to do in the name of ‘beauty’. But my boyfriend has no hair on his arms, and he doesn’t look at all strange, certainly not unnatural or disgusting (maybe it would look unnatural if he were white). My arms have hair, and I like the way that feels, but I also love the way his arms feel.

Seems to me everyone has their preference. Of coure hairy arms doesn’t bother all men or women for that matter. My arms aren’t hairy but if they were I would have no problem with it. It isn’t an all for one thing it’s a preference

When I was younger, I dated white women. That’s about all that was really available in good ol’ WASP suburbia. Besides, my racist parents would have gone nuts if I’d brought home anything other than a white girl. I married one, with whom I raised two children who are grown. We divorced two and a half years ago. I’m now married to an utterly lovely Mexican woman, who has beautiful black hair on her arms, and for me, she lets her legs go unshaven unless she has to wear a dress or bathing suit. Her downy body hair on her back and behind is black, too, and it is incredibly sexy. I understand that current fashion dictates that the majority of men like shaved female privates, too; not me! I want to make love to someone whose privates look like those of a woman, not a little girl’s!

Careful, there! While I agree that companies in the hair removal product business probably are involved in advancing the notion that body hair should be removed, I hope that most people don’t think that someone who is hairless (completely bald female arm) is ‘unnatural’ or ‘disgusting’-looking. I have a medical condition that caused ALL of my hair to fall out. It is a rare condition… people like me have feelings too. I think people can be beautiful with or without hair.

And they are beautiful. Rock on and live well. We don’t need to turn women into anything but women. We are more than skin deep and it takes all kinds. If everyone is the same, then we lose our persons to a mob of look-a-likes.

Body hair doesn’t offend me in the least. I’ve noticed that body hair in general seems to have become a problem for some younger people. For example, on the TV show Big Brother I notice the younger folks are highly concerned about body hair, whether they’re male or female. I think it’s just a fad. If your a beautiful person inside it won’t matter what hair, warts, whatever, you have on the outside. It’ll shine right through.

That is unfortunately a person to person answer. I’m somewhat hairy and always have been. I don’t mind hair, and in most cases actually like it. Skin is softer and smoother with some hair coverage. But I know both men and women that feel differently.

I disagree. I think hair on arms looks terrible on women. This is just going to be a matter of opinion, probably better resolved by census to see the actual levels of preference.

It is a bit gross, especially if the girl is hairier than the man. It is a turnoff for me hair on a woman’s body is located in places other than the head or the crotch.

Things of this nature date so far back it’s not even funny. I wish I could remember his name, but there was a famous poet back in Victorian days that wanted a divorce on the night of his wedding, why? He was appaled by his wifes pubic hair. Apparentely all he had to go by as far as imagery is concerned his entire life, were statues. So, with this in mind, it’s always important to just be yourself, the primary answer to your question if it really does bother men, as with the above stated anecdote, it’s simply something they may not be used to. However in Europe where women grow freely, it doesn’t seem to bother as many men. Now here’s something not all men know: Women who seem to have more body hair than the average woman, the reason is simply they have more horomones, hence stronger sex drives. So, the only reason it should bother them, is if they’re afraid to not be on top.

Personally, I hate body hair. On either gender. I would be happy to have it all permanently removed. However, there’s one thing I’ve been telling people with insecurities for years. A long time ago I found a dictionary of sexual terms. One of them was a term for being sexually attracted by armpit hair. I think that proves that there is someone out there that likes every type of person, you just have to find your match. As for other people, I rarely notice their body hair unless I’m attracted to them. So I think companies are playing up to what people don’t like about themselves for whatever reason. As I said, I’d get all my arm hair removed in a second if I could afford it.

Carrie ! Most men would find that unattractive, but of course there sre exceptions.Mainly because in outlook a female would not appear as feminine as she would without hair. Can’t think of anything else besides this.

It’s the constant drilling of the media that tells us only long legged, flat stomached, perfect in every way women get anything in life, and it’s not true. We bend over backwards to meet social demands, shaving our legs, waxing unibrows, facial hair, bikini lines, colouring, bleaching, plucking, adding fat in some areas and taking it away from others. I’ve met women who have injected chemicals into their skin to get rid of their freckles. I’ve been told several times that my freckles are a blemish, like a pimple, or a scar. Am I trying to get rid of them? No. Because I know many who love me, freckles or not, and anyone who goes to such extremes to be perfect are going to be miserable 30 years down the road when they start to sag, wrinkle, go grey, get blotchy skin, etc. Perfect beauty doesn’t give us anything but lots of bills.

I know a man who finde hairy arms on women a turn on. He thinks these women are more sexually responsive, which makes sense. Since hair is protective, it would stand to reason (I have no research to back this … ) that people with a lot of hair have particularly sensitive skin to protect.

In my opinion its the hair removal industry that wants you to think hair on your arms is manly. I have never heard any guys I know ever mention a girl’s arm hair before. Let alone think she is unattractive because of it. The standards of beauty are really stuck up and stupid in america.
