As a gay servicemember in the U.S. Navy, Reserves, recent events have made me concerned for my safety should I ever be recalled to active duty. The frightening reality is, though, I am more frightened of my fellow service members than our enemies abroad. I have two questions: To other service members of both the U.S. and foreign militaries, how would you react if you found out that someone in your unit was gay, or if you witnessed the harrassment of someone perceived to be gay. Secondly, to non-military members, without using generalizations such as ‘it would affect morale,’ using as much detail as possible explain why you support or don’t support the right for homosexuals to serve in the military.
