My mom & sisters are fat; they have different characters, struggles, and personalities, as we all do. I find the grossly obese eye-catching, like an orange safety vest is, the body’s mass just catches my eye. I don’t mock, pity, stare, compare, or formulate stories in my head regarding anyone’s weight. I don’t feel superior because I’m thin, and I certainly don’t believe fat people lack intelligence, grace, attractiveness, or self-control, as some do. Having obese loved ones is the reason for this equanimity, I guess.
