Is it not the custom in England to tip servers well? I started waitressing a few months ago, & my boss told me to always add gratuity to a table of English people. I didn’t like that idea, so I always gave them the benefit of the doubt. However, the tips have always been under 8%. This happens to all the other servers as well. I work in fine dining, & my tips usually average 15-25%. My hourly rate is only $2.13 b/c we rely on tips. Is it because servers in England earn a higher base pay? Or is it just not customary to tip about 15% there?
