I am 100% Polish, which makes me of Eastern European decent. My question is why are all Eastern Europeans considered white Caucasians when every other race and decent is specified. I just don’t understand why I am a Caucasian, when I know that my decent is Eastern European. I think I should be as well as others considered Polish American, because I am also first generation here in America and that is where I came from. I also don’t like being accused with issues involving slavery and issues that occurred such a long time ago when my family and all of my ancestors had nothing to do with it here in America. Another question I have is that I don’t understand why the Jews are the only ones that are given restitution and sympathy from the tragic events of the Holocaust, when my grandfather and great uncle were locked up in the concentration camps with them. When Holocaust comes to mind, no one sympathizes for the people of Poland, when they were just as gruesomely treated as were the Jews. It just really angers me because even the biggest concentration camp was in the country of Poland (Auschwitz), and yet the people of Poland seem to have not even been recognized during this horrific period of time.
