MaraParticipantIn Rwanda and Darfur women and girls are routinely raped as an act of war. In most of the muslim world women are second class citizens who are considered the property and responsibility of their male relatives. In Saudi Arabia a young woman was just sentanced to prison and whipping for having the gall to be gang raped. In northern Iraq a young girl was beaten to death by a mob of men for declairing that she wanted to marry the boy that SHE loved. In Columbia females accused of crimes are often housed in the same cell as male criminals...often beaten, raped, and forced to "serve" in return for food. In Europe and America women still hold few positions of authority and earn only a fraction of what comparable males earn.
