i admit, i wanted to laugh, too. But dandruff is just dry skin, so ‘black dandruff is the same as anyone else’s.

Don’t take care of yourself enough (like I do sometimes) and you can get it. It white flakes. And it definitely sticks out in black hair.

A person’s entire body surface continuously sheds dead skin cells. The shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp at an excessive rate is the result of the normal growing process of the skin cells of the scalp. Causes of dandruff include the following: Excessive use of hairsprays and gels, improper use of hair-coloring products, cold weather and dry indoor heating, tight fitting hats and scarves, infrequent shampooing of the hair or inadequate rinsing, stress, anxiety and tension. Dandruff is a ‘human’ phenomenom not a ‘racial’ one. Although some are more prone to its causes than others, people of all races suffer from it. Black people laugh at your question, because it is one made out of ignorance. A simple Google search provided all of the above information. Notice that none of the causes relate to race. I think your real question to yourself should be what views do you hold about black people that would make you think they’re so different from yourself that they wouldn’t be affected by dandruff?

We have the capacity to get dandruff. It really depends on the individual’s hygiene, and what kind of shampoo they use. And our dandruff is the same color as yours–whitish and flaky.

It would seem to reason that any person with skin on their scalp would be capable of having dandruff. ‘White Flakes’, those are the dead skin chunks that fall. So tiny, dead skin flakes, no matter the persons background, are going to look white. The flakes are that top dry layer, not a big chunk of pigmented flesh.

Black people have skin just like white people, so we get dandruff, too. The color of the flakes depends on the darkness of the person’s skin, but if you were to take a single dandruff flake of a white person and one of a black person and put them next to one another, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

Yes, black people do get dandruff. I don’t know if it is with the same frequency as white people, but I do know it is pretty much the same. Dandruff on black people usually consists of whitish flakes.

Our hair textures are different, but all human scalps are basically the same. The reason you may not see as much dandruff is because of the pomades and styling aids that some use. But yes, black people can get dandruff just as often, and it’s exactly the same type/color as anybody elses.
