Custom not appreciated?

    Lately when I am shopping for groceries or anything else, I have noticed that I rarely get a ‘thank you’ from the cashier for my purchase. It’s ‘Have a good day’ (even in the late evening). Why is this? I usually tell the clerk ‘thank you’ when I receive my change.
