Americans are well aware we’re hated – out of jealousy, misunderstanding or whatever. The fact is, we just don’t care.

We’re not perfect. However: Haitians and Cubans ride leaky rafts to Miami for SOME reason. People dodge border guards to cross the Mexican-American border for SOME reason. The Chinese smuggle themselves onto cargo ships that dock in San Francisco for SOME reason. No I’m not anti-immigrant. In fact, I have many immigrant friends. What I don’t understand is the ambivalence among foreigners. We’re ‘the most hated’, yet we’re also ‘the most requested.’
