Why is it that many gay people get upset when straight people say they are proud of being straight, even though gays say they are gay and proud?

Nobody gay who I know ever gets upset when straight people say they are proud of who they are, because being confident and assured of your sexuality is important. However, it is totally unnecessary for straights to parade this fact around, as the heterosexual lifestyle and its values are celebrated every day. Society in general, and especially the media, are very heterocentric – it’s in books, movies, television shows, music, etc. And when heterosexuals go to extra lengths about ‘Straight Pride,’ it makes them appear stuck up, or as if they feel superior to homosexuals. They are the majority of the population, after all. We certainly don’t need to be reminded of that.
