Racism is about skin color, right? (Well at least most of the time.) But I have also heard that many minorities, e.g. East Indians, are treated better in the US than African-Americans, even though they often share the same shade of dark brown skin color. As an East Indian guy, I’m interested to know whether this is true, and if so, what are the reasons that East Indians have a better lot in contemporary American society than African-Americans? Also, what does this imply for East-Indian/White interracial relationships vis-a-vis African-American/White relationships?
