Yes, in the Bible are passages that seem to allude to the subservience of women to men. However, taken in context, you see that there is a mutual subservience. We are instructed that we are ALL servants to EVERYONE. We are expected to behave with a mutual respect and support for all members of the community. This has been the teaching of the Church for hundreds of years. Many Doctors of the Church wrote extensively on the subject of equality before society accepted women as equals. This is another example of society's misuse of faith.

Men are instructed to love and protect their wives, just as he loves the church. 'Submit' means something different to everyone, and for me as a Christian wife it means compromising on household decisions and respecting my husband. Obviously if he wanted to rob a bank, I wouldn't be too submissive on that subject.

Woman was created from the side of Man...not his head to be above him...not his feet to be below him but by his side to be equal. To share together equally all that God has to offer them.
