RBBParticipantI’m not sure if this is an appropriate question to ask . . . but here it goes. I had read about the YFORUM and thought that a website dedicated to getting people together from diverse backgrounds and different perspectives was great. I believe that genuine dialogue between people who think different is a good way to develop understanding of other groups. However, as I visited the YFOURM I was disappointed because most people state a simple opinion without depthful dialogue. I am curious if anyone wants to meet in the chatroom to have genuine dialogue regarding something I have disdain for but want to chat about – breast implants (being that posts can only be 40 words I do not think the regular posting would sustain an open dialogue). Although I have disdain for women who get breast implants (and men who support them), my purpose of a chatroom discussion is to (1) ask the question on whether supporters of breast implants think about the societal consequence (e.g., supporting the Barbie doll notion of “real women” – worth located by breast size), and (2) having meaningful and challenging dialogue between two or more people who have diverse views on this. I do not want this to be a debate, rather an open and genuine dialogue. I want what is stated in the mission of the chat forum – to get people together from different backgrounds and perspectives and get them talking. If anyone is interested, simple list a time and date and we can meet in the chatroom. The best times for me are during the day Monday through Friday.
