Lucy HParticipantLately I have been hearing a lot about negative reactions from black women about romantic relationships between black men and white women. I believe that neither race, religion nor social class should determine who a person can or can’t become involved with, but I understand the position some black women take regarding relationships between black men and white women. What I would like to know is, how do people (specifically black women in this case) feel about romantic relationships between black men and Latino or Asian women? Are the same issues important?

ED25481ParticipantI am past the point of caring who black men go out with. If they find someone they truly love, who loves them back, more power to them. The only problem I have with black folks in general dating someone of another race is that sometimes self-hatred is a factor – that is, the black person doesn’t like his/her own skin color, hair texture, nose shape or whatever, and dating someone different is an attempt to deny who he/she really is.
