LauraMemberI've noticed that black people's hands are much lighter than the rest of their bodies. Their hands are about the same color as my "white" skin. Why is that? Parts of the body normally covered by clothing are dark, so it can't be because of exposure to the sun. Any ideas?User Detail :

TMC24637ParticipantEveryone's hands and feet are white because the skin is a different texture than the rest of the body and has little or no melanin in it. The reason Caucasians' skin is all of the same color is that neither the bottoms of the hands/feet nor their regular skin has that much melanin in it.User Detail :

BILAL-BIN-ALIParticipantyou said that the lighter colour can not be because of exposure to sun because the darker parts are also covered by cloth.well it is of exposure to the sun. clothes can only do so much in protecting us from the sun. sun rays can easily pass from the clothes but they can not pass through flesh ar it will have dire consequences for us. the human posture is such that it keeps the hand's palm from direct exposure to the sun so they are light.User Detail :
