I am a gay male of mixed racial heritage. Although I can pass for a white male, all of my life I have chosen to identify with the African-American community. My partner is black, and I love and adore him. My questions: Why do both straight and gay African Americans continue to make abusive remarks toward us, and what positive things can we do to improve our situation regarding this?
