I am 22, and look a little young for my age, but certainly old enough to answer questions for myself. WHY, then, do older people address their questions about me to MY MOTHER when we are out together? Examples: ‘Oh, what college is she attending?’ ‘Did she enjoy the book?’ ‘Where does she work?’ Hel-LO, I’m standing right there, just ask ME! I usually just grit my teeth and bare it, but it’s getting more and more annoying the older I get. My friends have experienced the same thing. Why do people do this?!
