I was told that people born in mainland China have some artificial birthmark carved as a scar on their shoulders. I’ve seen it on my parents and a few other people, but I cannot seem to find it on me. My family came to the U.S. from China when I was 3 and I had been living here since. Do they put that mark on you at an older age instead? Did they stop this practice in more recent years (I was born in 1983.)? Do other countries have similar practices?
