I’m a black, college educated man in my 30s and have been wondering about something for quite a while. It seems like everytime a police officer, particularly a white police officer, in the line of duty kills a black suspect for a suspected criminal offense–even if that killing is later proven to be ‘legitimate’–it seems like the black community in which the killing took place goes into an outrage, calling the local police department racist, excessive, extreme etc; however, it also seems that that same community will not utter so much as a peep if the killing of a civilian black is perpetrated by another civilian black. Why is that?
