I let the seasons decide on when I take my showers. I’ve noticed that for some reason during the spring and summer, I take my showers in the morning, but during the fall and winter, I take a shower at night.

Typically, I shower in the morning and take a bath in the evening. Morning showers help to give me that ‘I Can Do’ attitude. Evening baths help me relax after exercising and prepare me for a solid night’s sleep. Call me weird, but I’d feel ‘funky’ putting my dirty body on clean bed sheets.

While some Euro countries have the rep for not showering at all (France, anyone?), I grew up in Great Britain and always bathed at night until I moved to the US, where I discovered everyone seemed to shower in the morning. I also find that Europeans tend to be more into taking a bath than showers, in general. These days, I’ll take a shower in the morning to feel clean and if I need to relax in the evening, I’ll soak in the tub.

I think it is an individual preference. It has nothing to do with race. I shower at night because it helps me relax and sleep. It is convinient for me. Most people take two showers a day! I personally take one. I don’t like to wake up so early to take a shower. I think that people take a shower at night because it is convenient and it helps relax you after a long day of hard work. I know people take one in the morning because it helps to wake you up and to make you nice and clean before work. I think it has to do with you personally.

I always shower or bathe at night because it feels so good to climb in bed all clean and fresh. There is nothing better than clean sheets against your clean body. I don’t think this has anything to do with where you live or your race.

I am Asian, Thai specifically, and I have always been taught to shower twice a day, and so are most other Thai people. In the morning we take showers because it wakes us up and refreshes us to face the day. We also shower at night because after going about our business during the day, we want to be clean before we go to bed. I am in college and a friend and I actually wondered how often all our friends (also mostly Asian) took showers so we called them up and found all of them take showers twice a day. Hope that helps clear up the Asian front for you.

I believe it is more of a class thing. People in ‘blue-collar’ jobs feel it necessary to bathe at night so as not to be icky and stinky during dinner and all night. White-collar workers don’t do as much physical exertion, and they need the mental ‘wake-up call’ of the morning shower. I work in an office setting and bathed in the morning, until I married a mechanic. Now the whole family bathes at night just to be uniform, I guess.
