Heather21484ParticipantWhy does sex feel better when you're on your period?User Detail :

NatalieParticipantSimply put - hormones. A woman's libido is driven by a variable mix of three hormones, estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. Some women are at their most libidinous during ovulation, some during their period. Reduced risk of pregnancy, (not completely risk-free) and the 'taboo' of sex during menstruation could also be the cause.User Detail :

Sheri R.Participantfor ME, it doesn't. i have no interest in sex at all while i'm on my period. in fact, my body is so sensitive in that area that even if i were interested i wouldn't have sex. however, that probably explains why you like it, the area is more sensitive because of the hormones and such.User Detail :

Ken26441ParticipantIf both people are comfortable with it, then sure, then just lay down a towel, and worry about the mess afterwards. As for whether or not it actually feels better during 'redwings season', I doubt its any different. Please correct me if I'm wrong.User Detail :

Dave M.ParticipantBeing male, I can't give an 'experiential' answer, but of the six relationships I've had, four partners were especially aroused during menses. Discussing it, we came to these conclusions about why this was so: 1. increased hormonal levels 2. increased initial lubrication makes for more enjoyable foreplay 3. increased mass (uterine lining) causes generally increased awareness of sexual organs, hence sex is 'more on her mind.'P.S. Personally, while menstrual sex doesn't increase my enjoyment, it certainly never decreased it. I view it as a celebration of femine possibility.

Diana25735ParticipantYes, it isn't safe sex, especially if you are worried about STDs, but... Sex while I'm on my period (and not on the pill) means I can relax an enjoy. Pregnancy is highly unlikely. ALSO, I'm just much more aware of that part of my body, and that leads to other thoughts. I think some people are turned on by the 'naughty-ness' aspect, as well. Like the first responder, I think hormones probably also play a role.User Detail :

Jericho30945ParticipantIt doesn't! My boyfriend enjoys a randy romp anytime, but personally, I'd rather not while I'm menstruating. I actually have *less* feeling in that general area, and end up having to concentrate harder to please him because it doesn't come as naturally (since I'm not feeling much). That's just one woman's p.o.v.!User Detail :
