‘Overweight people often fall under the same misconception…That their condition is a choice. […]obesity is still often viewed as a ‘choice’ – that fat individuals suffer from an unhealthy lack of self-control.’ But it IS a choice! Nobody can claim that they don’t know what causes them to be fat: overeating and/or underexercising. All the whining about slow metabolisms, or blaming our car-based economy, is just that. Food doesn’t just fall into your mouth, being fat is a lifestyle choice. If you choose to be fat, that’s fine. However, don’t expect me to validate your choice by giving you special treatment. To me, being fat is incredibly unattractive, and a sign of personal laziness: it’s exactly like not brushing your teeth, or wearing dirty clothes just because you can’t be bothered to clean them. I wouldn’t say that in person (I’m rude, but not THAT rude), but that’s what I’m thinking.
