If you haven’t seen the report referred to, how can you agree or disagree with it? I find it very difficult to believe that as a crime reporter you are not familiar with Department of Justice statistics in regard to race/crime. They are damning and justify profiling.
Additionally, if you believe that poverty is a better predictor of crime than race, then it follows that criminals would come only from the lower socioeconomic strata. Yet we see that many people convicted of crimes come from other than poverty stricken backgrounds; white collar criminals, for example.
Lastly, if it is only a perception that blacks are more likely to commit crimes, how do you explain the preponderence of blacks in prison?
