Well Dane, one of the biggest effects that come to mind is the distribution of wealth in this country. You see, for more than 200 years slaves (ie. Blacks) were not allowed to own anything…indeed they were considered “property” themselves. While white families were able to pass down their aquired wealth,land,educational opportunities, etc to their future generations, ex-slaves were not allowed to start acquiring wealth until well into the 20th century! Surely you can recognize the effects of poverty in this country…why the heck do you think Blacks make up such an unproportional percentage of the poverty stricken?? Many young people only think of slavery as servitude…it was much more than that hun. It included sociatal DENIAL of rights taken for granted my those who were not slaves. M
