I’m 38 and I’ve been in a monogamous relationship for 10 years. Prior to that, I’d estimate I was with about 50 people, both men and women. The first time I had sex was when I was 16. I felt worse about myself when I was sleeping with all the guys because it was for the wrong reasons, and I felt used. They’d do their thing and I didn’t get much out of it. With women, it was more of an equal thing, and I felt more in control. So I didn’t feel bad about them – it was more of a conquest thing. I don’t know if 50 is a lot or not, but I’m glad I got all of the random sex out of my system. Now I don’t feel like I’m missing anything by being with one person for the rest of my life. It also makes me appreciate how much better sex is with the same person than it is with a different person all the time.
