Moderate, mild summers? Maybe in the Northwest Territories, but where I live, and even in places over 8 hours north of me, the average temperature throughout the summer is somewhere around 80 degrees, and it's not at all uncommon for it to reach over 100 degrees occasionally. You say you're not buying into stereotypes, but when you make 'generalisations' without even having been to the country, you're doing just that.

The general idea is that both men's and women's genitalia are rather "funny looking," meaning that it's not really something elegant or gracious to look at. However, to most people a guy's privates shouldn't be the kind of thing to provoke giggles. I mean, half the population has what you have. It's not like she didn't expect to see one there anyways.

It really depends on the situation in which the woman laughed. If it was in a social situation, such as you were watching a movie together where someone's penis was suddenly shown (such as in There's Something about Mary or Monty Python's The Life of Brian), it's a natural human reaction, especially for females, to be a little embarassed or surprised and laugh it off. However, if you were being intimate with each other and she giggled when you took your pants off, it doesn't seem to me like she's mature enough to be in an intimate situation in the first place.
