I think that society has become so concerned with everyones’ egos. We are all so obsessed with not offending anyone’s feelings and we often intentionally skew the truth to sound better. I used to work retail and I was constantly criticized for being brutally honest when asked my opinion. The truth can hurt! No one wants to hurt anymore – it is all about convenience in this society. We are forced to just be passive and not speak our opinions to get by smoothly and go with the flow. i.e. ‘Don’t rock the boat,’ etc. I hate it but it comes down to the fact that lying is often immoral – but less frustrating.
