Robert: I am confused. I thought the original question was about Samoans? Maybe I don’t know my ethnic groups that well. Are Samoans black? If not, why the comment that blacks in general are larger? And size is relative. There are various groups of blacks of African descent who are not big. All black people do not have large frames, are heavier, or other stereotypical characteristics.

Where are the moms? Everybody but their mothers seems to have an opinion. And why are these folks who have no practical experience telling the rest of us what’s the appropriate age to stop nursing? That’s ludicrous. Some of the respondents are young, inexperienced and seemingly childless. What compelled you to voice your opinion? And one gentleman clearly says he has no legitimate basis for his response. So why would you even venture to guess what’s normal?

Somebody work with me here, please. I thought the purpose here was to enlighten. How can posters teach me something about a topic they have no knowledge about? I felt offended the first time I read these responses. I checked back to see if other nursing moms or professionals had responded. Why are those of us who are practicing this feeding/nurturing method not speaking up?

Recently, I wrote a paper about the breast-feeding vs. bottle-feeding controversy. The facts I relayed might shock/sadden those who criticize this practice and its appropriate duration. Let’s dispel the myths and lies and instead educate each other with the truth and facts.
