Y.K.MemberIt’s true. In my grandmother’s time, unmarried girls wore their hair in plaits, while married women wore them up. But you have to keep in mind that this has not been practiced for some time, and I don’t know of any Chinese community out there still following this tradition (but maybe I’m wrong – we don’t in Malaysia, anyway). I’d like to hear from anyone who can tell me the origin or reason for this custom, though.
