As an American, I believe in part, it is simply due to the fact that you are what we would consider different. Because you supposedly live on that side of the globe makes everyone suspect. I know of local Americans who like you have roots somewhere, however, since 9/11, we have treated them differently as if the terroristst trained them personally to hate Americans and try to murder our country. Even the people we are at war with did not cause 9/11, but we fight them anyway.
