To Black Female: you are obviously looking for some attention with shock value, but allow me to state the obvious: What is dumb to you might be important to someone else, and what is not dumb to you might be dumb to someone else. People have real curiosities and concerns that might be looked upon as inappropriate if asked in public, and, for the sake of education, more of these questions should be printed – not posts such as yours.

I am originally from such a culture. Trust me, they are not that picky. I have lived away from that cultural area for a while, and when I have returned for visits, I have often used both hands, one occasion being when I simply was not dexterous enough to hold and tear a piece of bread with one hand. No big deal. If you don’t have a right hand, just do everything with your left (just wash your hand often); similarly, if you don’t have a left hand, you would have to wash yourself with your right. It is not a big deal.

In another response, Emily described infatuation as being an ‘intense (physical) attraction.’ It must be beyond this, because it is common to be infatuated on an emotional level, or a spiritual level. Infatuation separates itself from love by its obsessive quality, which results in the attraction being aimed not at the person within but at the idea of being attracted to that person (or at the obsessor’s glorified perception of the target person). Love is an understanding, while infatuation, a misunderstanding. Yet, oddly, lasting love seems to stem either from infatuation or friendship, or from both. Therefore, the intense misunderstanding known as infatuation may actually unwind its coils and be understood as love. As far as Titanic is concerned, we only witnessed infatuation. Their attraction seemed to be based on the drama surrounding the moment. Further, Rose was on the rebound, and Jack was the stowaway Alice in Wonderland. Just wait ’til Rose finds out how broke Jack is. Love might have eventually developed, but it was still nowhere in sight.

I agree with you that the objection/fear of homosexuality is ridiculous, but it is actually based on more than the ‘yuck’ factor. I am a law student, and in today’s requirement for substantive due process, homosexual sex is not protected under a right to privacy but heterosexual sex is. The Supreme Court, i.e. a bunch of old guys and a granny, is of the opinion that only acts that promote the growth of the family are, in essence, protected. Procreation is deemed such an act. Since heterosexual couples/activity can lead to natural procreation, while homosexual couples/activity cannot lead to natural procreation, heterosexuality is encouraged while homosexuality is frowned upon. The old foggies in Supreme Court, and unfortunately others as well, believe that promoting/protecting/accepting homosexuality would result in less reproduction, and therefore, be disadvantageous to the human species. Yet, in this day and age, with the advent of the test tube baby and artificial insemination along with the decline in the desire of heterosexual women to reproduce anyway, I strongly feel that the Court’s justifications are terribly outdated.
