SherriParticipantKwanzaa is not a version of Christmas. Neither is Hanukkah, St. Anne’s Day, or anyother December based holiday. It is a celebration of ethnicity. Christmas is a religious holiday, whereas Kwanzaa is not. Kwanzaa is a time where African Americans take time to give respect to thier ancestors and to reflect on the values that we need to embody. It is a time to get away from the commercialism that is plaguing Christmas. Did you bother to research the holiday before you made such an uneducated remark? Would you say the same thing about Hanukkah, or the Chinese New Year? Just because you don’t celebrate it doesn’t mean that someone is going on a ‘racial trip’ as you so ignorantly put it!
