Sanford F.MemberA ‘great ambassador’? I think that may be a bit much. She’s an obviously successful entertainer who is viewed with a certain amount of pride. I guess as an Asian American, you could ask yourself how you view Connie Chung to understand how blacks might feel about Oprah.

Sanford F.MemberFrom a purely pragmatic viewpoint, diversity ensures the survival of the American standard of living. The history of American success is a history of immigrants/minorities by their efforts moving into mainstream America and in turn refreshing and revitalizing the economy and culture. America at its best is a meritocracy where the best and brightest can reap the greatest rewards. Without a committment to diversity, we limit the pool of potential contributors. Diversity also involves changing ways of doing things, which may expain why you personally don’t consider it ‘fun’. However, since diversity is the means to continue enjoying the world’s highest standard of living, it is probably worth an extra effort to try positive interaction with different races and cultures. With the right attitude, you might be pleasantly surprised.
