Robert29740ParticipantIn response to the category and Jarrett’s comment in particular, slavery is not something that should be associated only with the European-African slave-trade of the colonial era. The institution of slavery goes back farther than that, MUCH farther. The Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Babylonians, and host of others – some of whom came millenia before the Europeans – all had slavery as an element in their societies. Other forms of servitude also come to mind – the institution of serfdom, in particular. To view slavery as the domain of only Europeans is patently incorrect.
