Some guys do this in movie theatres too–can’t sit next to each other. My friends and I always figured that it’s because they feel that if they sit closer together, they may not be able to trust themselves. They might be to tempted to touch each other or something. So they’re avoiding temptation by putting some space between them. Another idea is that they feel that they’ll appear gay because they’re sitting ‘too’ close together. But this just seems too stupid and childish to even consider. So it must be the first answer.
