Mormons believe that God has prepared a place for each of his children according to the life and choices they made. This would be ‘Heaven’ in most other religions with the final destination almost always being better than any place on Earth. God has laid down some basic rules for two purposes. 1. To prevent us from being stupid and hurting ourselves (like any good parent). 2. To lay a good foundation to build character. Our choices and obediance to these commandments let us decide what kind of hereafter. Those who choose God are with him for eternity. They will be pure in heart. Other ‘good’ people who do not follow His commandments will not be with God but will be in a place with other like people. This in a way would be ‘Hell’ because God will not be there but it will still be a wonderful place because God loves his children. But it won’t be as good as it could be and the people there won’t be as good of quality as those with God. And so on down the line according to God’s infinite wisdom and judgement. At the bottom will be horrible people like Hitler, Stalin, etc. We don’t believe in a Fire and Brimstone hell but who you want to spend eternities with those guys? Thats Hell.
