OrleanasParticipantI would say that the answer lies in politics. The question I would consider that you ask is why don’t cities pick up trash in poorer neighborhoods than they do in more affluent neighborhoods? I noticed this about a year ago when I had to move deeper into an inner city neighborhood due to renovations in the building that I lived in closer to downtown Boston. Trash was picked up once a week when I moved deeper into the city as compared to twice a week from where I lived in before. Do you know much trash accumulates in the span of a week in an area that is dense with people? Also ask yourself, how many public trash cans do you see in the neighborhoods that you say are dirty as compared to the ones in the not so dirty neighborhoods?
