I admit, we are a little different from other Christian churches...

I spent two years in the Hiroshima area. I've talked to several people who were there and experienced the horror of it firsthand. I don't mean to condone the actions that were taken there, but it was war. It was an open conflict in which both sides committed unspeakable atrocities.

While I don't know whether the United States was right in using the atomic bomb, the mentality of the Japanese people (from my limited experience) was that they would die before surrenduring. There are mixed feelings in Japan, too. There is a strong feeling that even they viewed it as the only feasible end to the war. Had the United States conducted a full invasion of the islands, there would have many times the casualties, both military and civilian, as in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Regarding the targeting of civilians, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were both chosen for the concentration of military installations. Had the United States intentionaly targeted civilians, it would have bombed Osaka or Tokyo, both of which had much higher concentrations of civilian populations.

Honestly, I don't know. My guess is that, the official name, being The United States of America is a little long to say, so it was shortened to America.

I have also wondered about that alot, and the reason that I have come to is the nature of the Bible it's self. First of all, don't want to detract from anyone's views of the divinity of the Book, but it must also be realized that the Bible is only the record of 1 nation. While, according to the Bible, Noah and his family were the only survivor of the flood, this is the story according to that record. Who is to say that there weren't others? While I don't doubt the historical accuracy of the Bible, it can't be taken as the absolute and only record of ancient people. I'm afraid I may have not answered the original question, but I don't think that the Bible does have the answer as to where different races come from. I think that any one who says that it does, or that the Bible by it's self contains ALL the answers for ALL the questions, must be looked at in a sceptical light.

The best answer I can give you is, well, no answer. Don't believe me, but I can tell you that there is a true religion out there. I know because I have asked God and he told me. Now, before you get the wrong idea, let me say that, no I don't claim to have had any visions or magical expieriences or anything like that. To understand what I'm saying, you have to go to a base belief that everyone can understand. I think (heavy emphasis on the 'think')that the only doctrine that EVERYBODY will agree on is that doing something right makes you feel good and doing something wrong makes you feel not good. Of course one can condition one's self to not feel that, but if you don't belive that, just look at a little child. God is out there. He is not going to smack you on the head saying 'Hey dummy, here I am!' We all have an inherent freedom to choose, be it to help an old lady or to murder someone. That is our most important trusts. God gave us that freedom, he expects us to use it and ask Him. Look around, and listen to what people say, but more importantly listen to what your heart says about what they are saying, because as I said earlier, everybody has an inherent 'helper' if you will, to distinguish between right and wrong, truth and fiction. Ask Him for help. Listen to what people have to say, but take everything with a grain of salt. Like I said, I want you to NOT believe me, I want you to believe the only thing in this world that you can belive unquestionalbly, your own heart. I've found truth, it is out there, and it doesn't try to convert you by shouting scriptures at you. I know, because I've found it.
