NicoleParticipantYea! I noticed that too! They’ve even got ‘Memorial Funds’ set up for Earnhardt at local banks. I can’ believe it! The man was a millionaire! I had a really hard time empathizing with those who went to prayer gatherings and vigils to mourn the loss of The Intimidator. Don’t get me wrong, I think it was a tragic loss and I hope that his wife and children are able to find closure in their time of grief. However, people crying in the streets and parades and protests and vigils and all that is a little unnecessary. I mean, really, did they know the man? No, they didn’t. They knew him from what they saw on TV and at the races.

NicoleParticipantI agree with you. It’s funny that men and women are constantly searching for the answers to what each other wants, and we’re so willing to tell them exactly what we want and they still don’t hear us. Once and for all, hear our cry: No more baggy jeans! No more sweatsuits out to dinner! No more sucking on straws! No more lop-sided afros! Bring on the clean-cut, educated and cultured black men.

NicoleParticipantI’d say ‘yes’ and ‘no.’ I say ‘yes’ because I have often turned my nose up at white people who collect those ‘tar babies’ because it’s almost like they are making fun of how important the black woman was to many white households during the 1800s in the South. It’s also an issue of ‘hoarding’ antiques and relics of another culture so that they may not enjoy them; or, making the price to own such collectibles so high that many black people can’t afford to display them in their homes. Then again, I myself would like to begin collecting things from other cultures and countries. I want to do this because I have a very eclectic taste and think incorporating many collectibles from different eras and cultures would enligten my senses. So, I guess I would like an answer to your question, too!

NicoleParticipantIf I met someone who was ‘meant’ for me and they were of another race, I would continue to have a relationship with them. It’s not even a hard question for me. There is no dilemma. I’ve dated all kinds of men of differing races. I like to think of myself as ‘cultured’ in that I’ve dated men of many ethnicities and experienced their traditions and customs throughout the course of our relationship.

NicoleParticipantI agree with some of the statements that the white gentleman from New York expressed. Funny, I’m black and white. I have also experienced some blacks who appear to be unsophisticated and uncivilized. I think it’s due to a lack of education, a lack of experiences and a lack of funds. Both are directly related to the socioeconomic conditions that plague many in the black community. However, I have also experienced white people who appear to behave in the same way; we can them ‘rednecks’ down here. The reasons for their behavior are the same as for blacks…lack of education, lack of experiences and a lack of funds.
