Race is just another aspect of one’s looks. There is nothing wrong with having a preference in the appearance, religion, political alliance or education level of someone we wish to date. If you disagree, I have an experiment for you. Next time you pick up the personals, look again at the ads for men seeking women. Notice something? “Slender” or “weight proportionate only need apply.” Some men’s ads actually have weight ranges that they expect from respondents. Are you going to skewer these guys? I don’t. Any heavy woman can then avoid an awkward, humiliating meeting by the advertiser being upfront with his expectations.

Let me reflect your questions back to you: “Do men feel heavy or fat women are not good enough for them? Is this some sort of subconscious bias?” It’s okay to have preferences in skin color or weight or whatever. Knowing what you want is part of being an adult.
