Bartering is part of the culture in India. In India, and many countries around the world, Market Price is the Fool’s Price (or tourists’!). It takes good haggling and a little manipulation to get the “real” price. It’s difficult to meet that mentality in the West, but usually as families acclimate, these tendencies simmer down. Even if they don’t, the best thing to do is be understanding and do what you need to do to keep your job.
