I don’t know if this manager’s arguing has anything to do with his age as I don’t know what he was like when you was younger. This might just be part of his personality. As for military influence, one of the basic parts of military operation is following the chain of command. When your superior gives you and order, you follow that order – no discussion, no arguements. With respect to the manager spying on employees, that is pretty common with these types of businesses. Although you may be an honest employee, some of your coworkers may not be. I know it’s annoying to be spied upon, esspecially when you are doing your job well, but that is one of the things that you have to deal with when working in retail shops such as these. I have run into lots of managers who were like that. So you basically either get used to it or find another line of work.
