Karmella H.MemberI must respond by saying I am sick of black people who sit comfy-cozy in their place, snubbing black people with complaints of oppression. Does a black person have to walk up to you with 50 gunshots in his chest before you will recognize it as REAL oppression? Why do these people make you ‘sick’? Are you embarrassed by them? Wish they could all ‘work as hard’ as you? News flash: many of ‘them’ work twice as hard as those of us who are sitting pretty economically. Unlike people who are ‘sick’ of our brothers and sisters who can’t get from under the heels of oppression, I (as a person who managed to screw the system somewhat) see it as my duty to give back. And I do not judge my community based on some Eurocentric BS value system taught to us by American society.

Karmella H.MemberThe stronghold of ‘the system’ is more real for some people than others. They may complain of the system often because no matter where they go or what they do, it is in their face. Low-paying jobs that do not allow advancement, constant police profiling, the politicians they have to choose from, white skin privilege. Many black people who do not complain about the system are only content because they take part in it (assimilate) or have figured out a way to ‘screw’ it, so to speak. The ones who complain are usually the ones who would have to start out from scratch (no inherited jump-start like many of us today have). It’s getting harder and harder to start from scratch. But on the other hand, it can be used as an excuse.
